Sustained Savings

Your Roadmap to ROI

With TMC, cost reductions typically start strong and get stronger as time goes on. This is due, in part, to our constant improvement process. We keep searching for ways to save more money for you—and we find them.

Before any engagement begins, our process engineers will work collaboratively with you to develop a comprehensive and prioritized savings plan. This roadmap to ROI is a step-by-step plan that is linked to specific transportation savings initiatives and prioritized according to your strategy and business requirements. Unlike traditional TMS providers, we will develop performance-based programs that reflect the savings we are able to achieve together. Our roadmap to ROI process utilizes our proprietary transportation savings hierarchy. This collection of best practices is enabled through technology and proven to save money in a long-term, sustainable manner. Our process also includes on time performance requirements and carbon emission reduction strategies.

As we meet with clients and their staffs to discuss our ongoing performance management routines, we proactively offer best practices that have been developed and proven in our work with other shippers. We also compile process improvement ideas and review them in these meetings. These best practices and process improvement ideas typically drive savings that are much deeper and far-reaching than the immediate savings we identify.

For example, some manufacturing clients have combined our best practice suggestions with business intelligence produced by our TMS technology and have used it to improve their production processes. They've reengineered their manufacturing infrastructure to facilitate JIT strategies that dramatically reduce costs—inside and outside their freight networks.

Inbound freight offers another rich area for savings. In most cases, we start by addressing outbound freight, for obvious reasons. But when we look at inbound freight, we typically find ways to remove transportation costs from supplier pricing and create a far more efficient model for the client.
