Our data center located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, utilizes the latest in high availability technology to achieve robust performance and availability for our web-based applications and TMS technology. We employ technologies including highly available Storage Area Networks, internal log shipping, warm standby servers, and server virtualization to ensure that in the case of system or network issues, everything keeps running. Web and application servers are in hardware clusters, which allow for redundancy and easy expandability. We offer 99 percent availability to our web-based tracking and management technology. The new facility includes the latest technology battery backup and generator systems to ensure uninterrupted power delivery to all systems. The cooling system includes "free cooling" capability, which utilizes cold outside air in winter months to reduce energy consumption. Our high availability infrastructure is provided by a redundant, state of the art facility in Minneapolis, MN. In the case of a catastrophic failure, all of our core applications are supported by our disaster recovery data center in Chicago. Even in the worst case scenario, systems will be online and running within two hours with close to no loss of data. Our disaster recovery strategy is well-documented on a per-system basis and is tested multiple times each year to ensure that everything will perform as expected in a real disaster scenario.
A sophisticated set of monitoring tools and processes track application and infrastructure health at the primary and DR data centers. Those tools and processes are supplemented by an Enterprise Command Center staff that actively guards our system availability 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Local high availability strategies as well as remote disaster recovery strategies are capital-intensive undertakings. A benefit of TMC's cloud computing model is that all of this robustness comes with no additional capital outlay by our clients. Access to the full capabilities of our infrastructure is included in the standard TMC service fee. Aggregating all of our clients into a common infrastructure makes this possible in a way that no self-hosted system can support.
